Difficulty Analysis
This is a competitive exam. Dedicated preparation for 6–12 months with proper strategy is essential.
Preparation Strategy
1. SBI PO is Harder than IBPS PO: Questions in Mains are tougher, especially DI and Reasoning puzzles. Don't take it lightly after clearing IBPS PO. 2. Descriptive Paper in Mains: SBI PO Mains has a descriptive test (Letter + Essay). Practice writing 2 essays and 1 formal letter every week. Good English writing is mandatory. 3. Banking Awareness – SBI Specific: In addition to general banking GK, know SBI's history, products, subsidiaries (SBI Life, SBI Cards, SBI Mutual Fund), and SBI's financial performance. 4. Reasoning – Complex Puzzles: SBI Mains has the hardest reasoning puzzles in banking exams. Practice multi-parameter arrangement puzzles daily. 5. Data Interpretation: Caselet DI and Missing Data Table DI are SBI Mains specialties. Practice these formats specifically. 6. Group Exercise Preparation: Phase 3 includes Group Discussion/Exercise. Read current economic and social topics. Practice speaking confidently with a group. 7. Interview Preparation: Research SBI's latest annual report, interest rates, schemes, and recent news. Know your resume inside out. 8. Target Score: In Prelims, aim for 70+ out of 100. In Mains, score well in Banking Awareness (score 30+ out of 40) to compensate for tough Maths.
